Lake Cathie to New York

Throughout my life I have met many people and some have become friends and stayed in touch.
The Internet has added a whole new dimension to making friends and sometimes they live on the other side of the world.
At one time I expressed to one such friend and fellow photographer from New York my wish to visit North America and Manhattan Island and his reply was if I do we would "Shoot the Breeze".
Today's post is dedicated to that friend whose one wish is too survive an ongoing battle with cancer. We have not yet had the chance to Shoot the Breeze, but I have been thinking about his struggle on a regular basis, and my thoughts and prayers are with Joe and his loving family.

These images of today's Sunrise at Lake Cathie are dedicated to Joe.

Lot of cloud over the ocean again this morning with the ocean swell and waves picking up to about five feet and several surfers hitting the water at sunrise. Looked pretty fast out there and they were struggling to make the hollow sections.
Its been a dream run for a Sunrise Photographer with each day producing different cloud formations and colours. Today's shades were from Pink through to Orange.
All the time while looking for compositions and angles I am waiting for the unpredictable like a flock of seagulls entering the scene.
Normally I would be a lot closer for surfing shots and using a 400mm Lens. The channel before me was to deep to wade through so I took pot luck when this surfer entered the scene from behind the sand dunes. I was using my 70-200mm lens.
A little later as I was walking back home I took an elevated position looking back at the surf.
Arriving home I could hear the shrieking of Yellow Tail Black Cockatoos in the adjacent Casuarina and Fig Trees. The sound of their beaks tearing at wood is unmistakable along with the falling debris.

Here is a slide show of Jabiru Images that I put together a while back. They are all taken at Lake Cathie NSW Australia during rare sightings over the past 5 years. Best viewed in HD.
